4/1/2018 For 08/11/2017 I braced myself for the encroaching pain I would feel as my backpack landed on my 'aching' shoulders, just like how it did 8 years back when I had my scouts hike. Weird. There was no pain, no discomfort. It then dawned on me.. "Ah of course, Osprey. My investment have finally reaped its return!!" Holding onto this thought, I started my hike to the peaceful walk of route 19 and artistic village of route 20 on a good note. Left my accomm at 07:45 with dark clouds looming over me, but I decided to hike in my Xero z-trail sandals and had my backpack rain cover on, so I wasn't too worried. *Side note: I cannot express how much I love the xero sandals. It is light weight, super comfy, and I am able to go on almost any terrain with it. I climbed Mt. Fuji, did canyoneering, and walked/ hiked miles with it and it is still going strong - although I would've to buy a new pair soon if I want to go for a full-on adventure hike as I have worn out the sole and it's starting to lose its grip, especially on slippery surfaces. BUT I'll happily pay for it man. *take my moolah* The sky cleared up, but I had a more pressing matter at hand to notice it then. As I was heading towards Hamdeok Beach, I needed to answer nature's call so soo badly. And with the constant wind along the coastal walk, it seems as if it is cooing me to let it all go. So you can imagine how thankful I was when I spotted a toilet at couple of hundred meters away. I ran-walked to it, relieved myself *hallelujah* and sat at a nearby bench after to savor the pleasu..r.. I mean the view (picture above). TMI? ok.. moving on ☞ At the peak of Seowoo-bong. Nothing too impressive, but since it was only at an altitude of 90m and I get to have a last glimpse of autumn's magic, it was still worth the short but tiring ascent! Much needed reminder. Total appreciation for the saint who hung it there. 9.1km in at Neobeunsoongee April 3 Memorial Hall. After another 1.5 hours of pretty easy walk, I reached the midpoint stamp. Took a short rest, had a samgak gimbap (rice triangle), and proceeded on with the remaining 6km of route 19. I know nothing much about flora, but I just love how intriguing it is that a barren land can be flanked and even coexist with luscious greens. Along Gimnyeong farm road, which also meant just another 2 - 3km to finish point! A redundant yet very liberating 100m-to-finish-point signpost. *Signposts that denotes distance like the one above were hard to come by, so having it just before the finish point caught me a little off guard. I thought I had another 1km or so to go, but seeing that I only had 100m left, my happiness doubled! Maybe that was its objective. Yay! End of route 19 and onward to another 7km of route 20 before I call it a day at my pre-booked accommodation! The start of route 20 took me to an artistic village and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I loved how the murals and wire wall art just blended in with nature, and each of them have a purpose or meaning to it. My personal favorite; Haenyeo (Women Divers) a.k.a heroines a.k.a moms. I actually saw the "I dive for a living" wall first and was pretty impassive about it, but when the "I am a mother" side of the wall came into view, whew.. it hits close to home. and after reading the signboard about Haenyeo (in the 3rd picture), I had a better understanding of how the artist was feeling while installing the wire art. Of course, one can never fully comprehend what an artist was feeling or trying to convey in his/ her work. The most you can do is to relate to it. But isn't that also the best thing about art? You get to let your imagination run wild, interpret it however you want it and that interpretation is yours to keep. Docking area for I suppose, villager's personal boat. But I have no idea where the boats can cruise to when there is no way out to the sea. Spare boats?

introductionWhen travelling, I like to have myself a concoction of 40% fun, 40% food, and 20% of chill time. Solely for aesthetics [-ิ_•ิ] categoriescurrent locationCurrent status: Home, hustling This map is here primarily to pump up the aesthetics (again) because having a map in a travel blog looks cooler, but hey, I managed to find a use for it.☺ archives...Fun fact: I love adding the order of colors in a rainbow into a lot of my creations because it makes me look artistic. Aha..ha. and yes, I skipped blue/indigo here because honestly, they are both blue to me. Keyword: to me. |
